Box Spring Saga

In today's edition of, "Furniture that doesn't fit in a rowhouse," we will be discussing box springs.

If you live in a rowhouse and buy a queen sized bed, buy the split box spring. Even if you think it'll fit because you measured, just buy the split. Even with a low profile spring. It's not gonna fit. In talking to a number of other friends, it seems like if you live in any house except a rancher with a direct access door into the bedroom, you should just buy the split.

Once our mattress was delivered and we established that yes, the box spring was not fitting, we found out that the spring + re delivery would cost over $150, we opted to go another way.

We followed an instructable, sawed the wood in half, folded it, took it up, and then put it back together. Overall, it was pretty smooth although pretty late at night when we started, and a time consuming process. So yeah, just buy the split spring.
